A Showa retro-style okonomiyaki restaurant near Osaka Tenmangu

Founded over 60 years ago, the okonomiyaki restaurant 'Asahi' is located just a short walk from Osaka Tenmangu Station and features a nostalgic Showa retro atmosphere. Their thick noodle yakisoba and fluffy okonomiyaki are finished with a special sauce, and their flavors have been cherished by locals for many years. The interior consists solely of a counter, allowing guests to enjoy okonomiyaki cooked right in front of them on the teppan while soaking in the nostalgic ambiance of the Showa era.

Asahi" okonomiyaki restaurant was established 60 years ago as a diner and became an okonomiyaki specialty restaurant 40 years ago. Today, the restaurant is still run by a single woman who is over 80 years old. The yakisoba noodles are thick and juicy, and are tossed with two kinds of sauces. The pork okonomiyaki has fluffy, finely chopped cabbage, a taste that has remained unchanged for more than 40 years. Tonpeiyaki also features thick slices of pork on a thin batter, generously seasoned with egg and sauce. This is where Osaka's sauce culture comes into its own.
