A popular udon shop located on the basement level 2 of a building directly connected to the station. I stopped by casually 30 minutes before closing. Since I had just had some drinks, I was tempted by the specialty maitake tempura udon, but I decided to avoid greasy food and chose the "Onsen Tamago Bukkake (Cold)" for 830 yen. This turned out to be a great choice.
What I was particularly happy about was the option for "small serving"! Being able to order it for a 50 yen discount is quite appreciated by those who eat lightly or just want a small bite. I, of course, requested the small serving, and it was still quite satisfying.
The noodles have a chewy texture, not as firm as Sanuki udon, but rather mochi-mochi (sticky and chewy). They are easy to bite through and slide down smoothly. When I added the dipping sauce (is it called men-tsuyu?), the flavors of the condiments were refreshing and well-balanced. The generous amount of toppings like green onions and ginger enhanced the mildness of the udon, keeping it interesting until the very end.
The lasting impression after finishing was simply "chewy!" and "so happy with the generous toppings!" They treated me with care even before closing time, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. I would like to try the popular maitake tempura next time. This is a convenient place I can recommend for a light meal after drinking or when you just want a quick bite.
