Miyoshiya Honten

The famous "Kabutoage" is a dish of boldly deep-fried top half of a young domestic chickens, which is crispy and savory on the outside and juicy on the inside, with the meat of the thigh, chicken giblets and cartilage all in one dish. The chicken is seasoned simply with salt and pepper, but the oil that has been used successively for frying soaks up the flavor of the chicken, making this a definitive chicken dish that is highly satisfying in a single dish.

The restaurant is equipped with tables, counter seats, and tatami rooms, creating an intimate space where local residents gather to enjoy conversation and meals. From dusk to night, the aroma of fried oil wafts down to the street, creating a lively atmosphere from the moment the restaurant opens. It is a natural fusion of the old-fashioned izakaya style and the "eating pleasure" of today.

Founded in 1963, the first owner, Mr. Suzuki, opened the restaurant in Kamitomatsuri-machi, Utsunomiya City, aiming to serve "mouth-watering chicken dishes. The name "kabutoage" came from the shape of the chicken's upper half, which looks like a "helmet" when fried and placed side by side, and it has become widely established as local soul food. It has been widely established as a local soul food, and we continue to maintain the same method and taste to this day.
