Two popular set menus at Hirata Ranch, a tonkatsu restaurant that draws a line out the door at lunchtime, can be enjoyed at reasonable prices from 3 to 6 p.m. under the name of "Happy Time. The main tonkatsu dishes are Sangen Pork and Kinka Pork, and I chose the Kinka Pork this time! Kinka pork loin cutlet set (1,500 yen → 980 yen) A tray with a loin cutlet covered in a golden batter sits in the center of the tray. On the table were two kinds of sauces, sweet and dry, mustard, olive oil, etc. Without hesitation, I sprinkled salt on the cutlet and took a bite. The total weight of the meat was 80 grams, which seemed rather small, but the texture and presence of the pork meat spread in your mouth. The batter was crispy and light, so there was no reason not to go for the rice.
