I used to visit often during my student days, but I wasn't aware of the existence of this restaurant. It's a small place with a counter for nine people, but it felt very homey and nice. There were regular customers there, but since I was with my partner, I didn't feel out of place at all. The appetizers were a great deal! I especially wanted to try the egg tofu, so I was very pleased! The fried small potatoes had a sweet flavor that is rare in Kyoto. Personally, I would prefer it without the sweetness and with more dashi flavor. If possible, I would like the hamo (pike eel) sashimi to be a bit more refined. The deep-fried eggplant had too much oil, and although the cuts were fine and it looked amazing, it was a shame. However, it was great to watch the chef seriously grill the hamo with the shimo-furi (frosted) technique and to see the bone cutting. The tai (sea bream) sashimi and uzaku (sea bream with vinegar) were excellent! I wrote some critical things based on my preferences, but the atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic, and the speed of service for drinks was also top-notch! I promised my partner that we would go again. I will visit again while looking for different flavors.
