In a quiet little shop at the end of a narrow road, it's within walking distance from the station. The signature dish is the miso rice balls, baked to perfection with a fragrant aroma; the outside is crispy while the inside is fluffy, bringing out the sweetness of the rice. The homemade miso is not overpowering, and the overall balance is very good. You have to wait a bit as they grill it after you order, but the freshly made aroma is irresistible. In addition to the rice balls, the stewed dishes, pickles, miso soup with plenty of ingredients, fish dishes, and salads are all carefully prepared and delicious. After the meal, tea and dessert are also served, making for a satisfying experience that includes a cozy atmosphere.

I have a dislike for five-spice powder (star anise), so I always hesitate to ask the staff about it.
Kajiya is a historic soba restaurant said to have been loved by Kenji Miyazawa. Established in 1904, this restaurant boasts strong, chewy soba and flavorful broth. The tempura and katsudon are also exquisite, and you can enjoy a variety of dishes that make use of local ingredients. It's a renowned establishment in Hanamaki that you'll want to visit again and again.
Founded in 1991, this store is the reopening of the long-established "Confectionery Workshop Tanaka," which continued to offer cakes that were gorgeous and made the most of the ingredients to suit the times. As a result, the cakes are renowned for their deliciousness.
