The name 'lamprais' is derived from the Dutch word 'lomprijst', which roughly translates to 'lunch box'. In Sri Lanka, lamprais has become a delicious curry rice dish that uses a lot of spices and herbs. By incorporating herbs and spices into the curry, it also becomes a food that is good for beauty. According to Ayurveda, a healthy meal includes all six tastes: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, spicy, and astringent. Based on this, it is made using basmati rice, which is essential for a feast, following the original recipe of Ruwani.
