A unique Japanese dining experience with a hidden Showa-era charm

Kasuie is a hidden gem that evokes the atmosphere of the Showa era, renowned for its delicious seafood dishes and exceptional grilled beef tongue with butter. At first glance, it may seem intimidating, but once you step inside, you'll find a warm and inviting atmosphere. A chalkboard displays a variety of fresh seafood options, with every dish praised for its freshness, especially the simmered fish and sashimi. Run by a stubborn yet passionate owner, this restaurant offers a delightful taste of Hakodate's charm.

It is a shop with a quiet atmosphere, known to those who know it. The interior is retro, and it feels more organized and calming than the exterior. It has a compact layout centered around the counter, and the taciturn owner manages everything carefully by himself. The sashimi platter, fragrant grilled dishes, and moist simmered dishes all have satisfying flavors. In particular, the butter-grilled tongue is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and mixing it with the white sauce and rice at the end is the best way to enjoy it. The crab gratin and a drink served in a carefully washed glass also elevate the mood.
