The concept of "Ore no Sumi" is to sell dried fish grilled over a charcoal fire and rice cooked in a kettle. The restaurant is run by Horikawa-ya Nomura, a soy sauce brewery that has been in business for 300 years in Wakayama. The store's soy sauce and miso are shipped directly from the brewery. You can taste the Japanese luxury of using three-star soy sauce and miso used for gifts. The restaurant includes a counter seating area where vegetables, dried fish, and meat are grilled over charcoal in front of you in a style you have never seen before. A la carte dishes and obanzai are also available. I visited for the salmon roe tofu. The salmon roe is salty, sweet, and rich. It is the best combination with the oboro-dofu. The girl next to me was also enjoying it and told the waitress that she came from Hokkaido and was surprised to find such delicious salmon roe in Tokyo. The waiter is always watching the vegetables and fish grilled over charcoal and divides them among the plates at the right moment to ensure they are cooked to perfection. And the rice. The restaurant offers an assortment of appetizers and obanzai that go well with sake. The towering potato salad is filled with suzunoko (herring roe). It is delicious and crunchy. The waitresses are Kansai people, and their intertwining style is recommended for couples who have just started dating and for casual drinking with business partners.
