A hidden Japanese izakaya in Gotanda

Akamame is a Japanese izakaya near Gotanda Station, referred to as an 'adult's hideaway.' The interior is non-smoking, featuring private rooms with sunken kotatsu tables and an open counter, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The chef, hailing from Shikoku, uses local ingredients to prepare dishes that incorporate fresh seafood daily. The signature 'tai-meshi' (sea bream rice) and the fresh 'sashimi platter' are particularly noteworthy and worth a visit.

The menu is extensive, and you can be satisfied with any choice. The specialty dish, sea bream rice, is a must-try. The oden is served with individual ingredients that are less likely to fall apart, allowing you to enjoy the flavors thoroughly. The sashimi, salad, simmered beef tendon, and rolled omelet are all delicious in their own right. It's easy to choose sake or shochu to pair with the dishes, and you can enjoy sake after beer as well. The atmosphere is calm and bright, making it easy to converse, whether in a group or alone.
