This is a healthy hybrid pig raised with a focus on feed and environment in the vast nature of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is characterized by its particularly sweet fat, tender meat quality, and light flavor. The ranch owner, Hazama, has been dedicated to pig farming for nearly forty years. For feed, he does not use commercially available mixed feed but instead uses a custom blend.
The 'Wa Ton Mochi Pork' was created by crossbreeding three varieties of pork, driven by the desire to focus on meat quality, flavor, and aroma. The characteristics of Wa Ton Mochi Pork include a higher content of umami components such as glutamic acid and vitamin E, which helps prevent oxidation in pork, compared to regular pork.
