One of the attractions at Rikko is the variety of course meal options. We booked the chicken course and the Tsuki course. The Tsuki course included three additional dishes to the chicken course, two types of appetizers, and one type of sashimi. We enjoyed the variety of dishes and the festive atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the sesame tofu, octopus and jellyfish with vinegared yolk, and apricot jelly.

Edogawa Naramachi is located in the heart of Nara City and offers a charming atmosphere reminiscent of a historic traditional house. The restaurant prides itself on its soft and fluffy Kanto-style eel, featuring a variety of eel dishes such as kabayaki and shirayaki. It also serves dishes made with abundant local Nara ingredients, with the Asuka hot pot being particularly appealing for its unique flavor derived from using milk as a broth.
The restaurant is housed in a renovated 100 year old house with a soft and comfortable atmosphere. The owner's calm and courteous service will make you feel at home. All of the dishes, from those made with sea bream and shellfish to grilled sweetfish, are of outstanding perfection. I was especially impressed by the deliciousness of the soup bowl and the skill of the grilled sweetfish. The owner, who was trained at Kawanami in Nara and Kitcho in Osaka, is certainly skilled, and the taste is simple yet satisfying. We highly recommend this restaurant to those seeking honest and delicious Japanese cuisine.
The dish was an omakase course that brought the seasons to life. The warm cauliflower marinated with salmon roe and hon mirin matched the salmon roe and whetted our appetite. The combination of carrots and 2021 Camembert cheese was also exquisite. The black truffle and Koshihikari rice risotto was cooked to perfection. The fish dish of sea bream with abalone mushrooms and saffron was also delicious, and the Nanaya duck had a sauce that matched the berries. The acidity of the ponkan and sweet white sesame whipped cream were nice accents to the dessert. The natural yeast bread with Yumechikara and kefir yogurt was also fluffy and delicious.

Authentic Korean Dining with the Aroma of Charcoal
This establishment offers authentic Korean cuisine alongside Miyazaki-style charcoal-grilled dishes. Known for its fragrant and juicy charcoal-grilled chicken, it also features rare dishes in Nara such as ganjang saeu (soy sauce marinated shrimp) and fluffy gyeran jjim (steamed egg custard) that are highly praised. The carefully prepared small dishes and seafood sundubu (soft tofu stew) are also popular, showcasing the rich flavors of the ingredients. Guests can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere enveloped in the scent of charcoal in a tranquil Japanese-style interior.
The beauty of the colorful mabushi and the flavor of the Yamato beef make this dish very beautiful and remind us of spring. The flavors of all the ingredients could be felt well, and I was especially surprised by the tasty lean meat of the Yamato beef. Adding yakumi (Japanese condiments) to the dish gave it a refreshing change of flavor, and the aroma of sansho (Japanese pepper) was particularly good. The flavor is further enhanced by pouring dashi broth over the beef to make chazuke (rice with green tea). The colorful mabushi in the rice box is lovely and pleasing to the eye. The restaurant offers delicious meat and a variety of ingredients that are locally produced for local consumption.
The restaurant opened on September 20, 2019.
