Choyokan is a long-established restaurant located in the Takada area of Joetsu City, dating back to the Meiji era. It features a refined sukiya-style pure Japanese building and garden, with the garden's scenery particularly captivating for visitors. The dishes, made with fresh local ingredients, are all delicious, and the miso soup is especially rich with the umami of sweet shrimp.

The traditional Japanese architecture and well-maintained garden are beautiful, creating a relaxing atmosphere. All rooms are private tatami rooms, making them easy to use for both small and large groups. The kaiseki meals are reservation-based, and it's nice that they also accommodate children's menus. There is an abundance of local ingredients, allowing you to enjoy flavors like sweet shrimp and surf clams. The miso soup made with the heads of sweet shrimp has a rich flavor and is memorably delicious. The selection of local sake is also impressive, and the bento boxes were carefully prepared with a variety of items.
