A hideaway izakaya renovated from a bar. The specialty, mackerel stick sushi, was so delicious that I wanted to report it to someone. I visited "Wasshoi" recommended by someone who said, "The mackerel sushi is so delicious, you will be surprised. The thick mackerel sushi I encountered there easily surpassed the hurdles I had set for myself. We would like to share with you the charm of this hideaway restaurant where you can enjoy local sake imported from all over Japan and dishes that go well with it. About 7 minutes walk north from JR Fukushima Station. Located along Naniwa-suji, but please note that the sign is in a slightly confusing location. The entrance is at the top of the stairs. It is a hidden place where you would not drop in by chance. Interior Behind the door is a stylish space with a great atmosphere, as it was remodeled from a bar, and there is a good mood for drinking alone or on a date. There are 7 seats at the counter and 3 sofa tables that can seat up to 12 people. The restaurant can seat up to 12 people in total, making it an enjoyable place for large groups. The mackerel meat is so thick that it envelops the rice and is seared to give it an excellent aroma. The melt-in-your-mouth texture and the fat that seeps out of the mackerel melts into the rice and is quite delicious. Surprisingly delicious" is what it means. It made an overwhelmingly strong impact on me among all the mackerel sushi I have eaten. Advance reservations are recommended. The number of sushi is limited, so you may not be able to find it if you order on the day of your visit for the first time. If you don't try this sushi, there is no point. Drunken Whale A representative brand of Kochi and Tosa, this sake is known for being made under thorough temperature control. It has a moderate acidity and a dry finish that enhances the flavor of food. Nevertheless, it was easy to drink with a hint of sweetness. Unfiltered Junmai Nama-no-Genshu As the name suggests, this sake is not filtered, so it is a light cloudy sake. The slight residual unrefined (fermenting liquid) expresses a slight sweetness. It was a very smooth and easy-to-drink sake. There is also a wide selection of other local sake from all over Japan. The shop is always stocked with more than 10 different types of sake, according to the season, so customers can enjoy a different sake each time they visit. Sake lovers can't get enough of it. Budget 3,440 yen (per person) This is our second visit to the restaurant, so I can't give you a price reference, but looking at the menu, ¥5,000 is enough to satisfy your needs. The 380 yen sake is very attractive, especially since most restaurants charge 7 or 800 yen. Ingredients The master himself goes to the market to personally inspect the mackerel used for the mackerel sushi and uses only carefully selected first-class mackerel. A few minutes north of Fukushima Station, this restaurant is tucked away on the 2nd floor of a building, where you can enjoy delicious sushi. 🙋🏻‍♂️ We visited after making a last-minute reservation for an after-party on Saturday. The interior of the restaurant is stylish, and the bar was remodeled to create a high quality space! It's so stylish! Here is my recommendation! ◆Sushi on a stick First of all, it's so thick and looks great 💯! There is no smell at all, and it is impossible to avoid drooling over it! It's so good!
