We had mejika again this year 😂. This fish is only available in Susaki and Kure in Kochi for about a month every year! It's a really fantastic fish because it's so fast and it's not even available in other prefectures 🐟. The texture is quite chewy and I've been coming back every year since I tried it once and fell in love with it👍. It seems that the catch is already getting smaller this year😅. This time, I called a restaurant in Susaki city and asked them to set me up at a fresh fish store. 🙇‍♂️ The guy at the restaurant was a nice guy! We also ordered grilled halibut, grilled moray eel, and a bowl of seafood, which was also delicious 😋!

The fillets are thick, and they pair perfectly with condiments like onion, green onion, and sliced garlic. First, enjoy it with salt to taste the umami, and then you can also enjoy it with their special sauce. There is no fishy smell, and the warmth of the freshly made dish is directly conveyed, which is impressive. The focus is on the bonito, and it's great that you can bring your own rice and drinks.

When I ordered the hot pot ramen served in a clay pot for lunch, a fragrant aroma of concentrated chicken flavor wafted up. It was served bubbling hot, so the noodles maintained a perfect firmness and I was able to enjoy it hot until the end. The flavor of the parent chicken, chikuwa (fish cake), and raw egg harmonized with the soup, and transferring the egg to the rice to make a porridge-style dish added an interesting change in taste. The grilled eel was light and refreshing, with a savory flavor that lingered. The meat in the steak bowl was very tender, well-seasoned, and paired excellently with the salad and miso soup. The variety of the menu and the friendly service from the staff made for a very pleasant dining experience.
