A Cozy Little Hideaway with Exquisite Donabe Rice

Located just a short walk from Hommachi Station, Donabe Gohan Ao offers a homely atmosphere with only counter seating. The rice, cooked in Shigaraki pottery donabe, is glossy and fluffy, allowing you to savor the natural sweetness of the rice itself. Each dish highlights the flavors of the ingredients, featuring a gentle taste that avoids the use of chemical seasonings.

It was a small shop with only a counter, and I was immediately captivated by the steam rising from the earthenware pot. The owner was managing everything by herself, and just watching her careful movements was soothing. The glossy rice had distinct grains, and its subtle sweetness and aroma were irresistible. On that day’s set meal, there was moist and flavorful pork and various small dishes, making it hard to put down my chopsticks. There was also a hearty soup and pickles, and I even asked for a second helping. If you make a reservation and visit casually, you can enjoy a gentle meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
