Exquisite soba enjoyed in a noble and elegant atmosphere
A 3-minute walk from Marutamachi Station, this is a soba tea salon in Kyoto opened by Miyazaki’s long-established shop “Soba-ya Tesshin.” The 13-seat space, renovated from a 100-year-old machiya that was the landlady’s family home, features gold leaf paintings and a single-board counter, and is open continuously from 8:00 AM through evening course service. Highlights include “Daigo Soba,” made with 100% buckwheat noodles from Azumino, Nagano, topped with 36-month-aged Parmigiano; each bowl, where Japanese and Western sensibilities intersect, offers a fresh surprise with every visit.

Cucina Italiana Toudou is a trattoria set in a renovated town house over 100 years old, offering a serene atmosphere to enjoy authentic Italian dishes. Each of the diverse selections is exquisite, and you can casually savor Northern Italian regional cuisine alongside house-made bread and carefully selected Italian wines. It's a hidden gem restaurant perfect for adults to visit on special occasions.
Every dish was carefully prepared and delicious. On this day, I enjoyed bonito sashimi with green onions and onion slices, served with ponzu sauce for a refreshing taste. The chawanmushi was also so delicious that I wanted to have it again. I chose sweetfish for the kamameshi. I was able to enjoy the fragrant crispy rice as well. The owner's bright and warm personality was also impressive, and it's a wonderful restaurant that I would like to visit again in a different season.
A kaiseki restaurant where you can savor the richness of the four seasons
Sokkon Fujimoto is a kaiseki restaurant located in a quiet area of Kyoto's Kawaramachi, run by Fujimoto, who trained at the renowned kaiseki restaurant 'Sakurada.'
