【Kyoto Cuisine】 A wonderful hidden gem where you can enjoy kaiseki cuisine at a reasonable price in 【Kyoto】 I visited the Kyoto cuisine restaurant "Fujimoto" during my trip to Kyoto. It is a well-established kaiseki restaurant featured in the Michelin Guide. It seems they relocated last July, and I visited before the move. The appearance is quiet and resembles a hidden retreat. This sense of tranquility is exciting! I had my meal at the counter on the first floor. The cozy atmosphere is quite nice. For dinner, you can choose from courses priced at 5,000 yen, 7,000 yen, or 10,000 yen. You can enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto at a reasonable price and savor a variety of kaiseki dishes! - Sashimi Six types of sashimi are served in beautiful dishes. The presentation is impressive! It's so beautiful that it feels a shame to eat it. Every piece of sashimi is delicious. The conger eel is topped with a plum sauce, providing a nice accent to its mild flavor. The shrimp is rich, sweet, and sticky. Amazing! The octopus is served with a bold mustard miso. Just the sashimi alone is moving. - Grilled Fish and Blanched Vegetables They serve the best fish of the day as grilled fish. On this day, it was Spanish mackerel. The meat is thick, and the density of the white flesh is impressive. The refreshing blanched vegetables pair very well with the grilled fish. - Ankake with Shirako (Cod Milt) The shirako is deep-fried, with a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. When you put your chopsticks in, it melts out. I really love the creamy texture and richness of the shirako! This dish is so melt-in-your-mouth that it’s overwhelming. - Abalone with Sea Urchin Fresh abalone lavishly topped with sea urchin! It’s so extravagant yet so delicate. The sea urchin is sweet and rich, while the abalone has a nice crunchy texture that conveys its freshness. With every bite, the flavor of the sea spreads throughout your mouth, making you involuntarily moan with delight. For dessert, you can choose from several options! Of course, I had to try all of them, haha. The dessert platter is exciting! Each one is a carefully crafted sweet. From start to finish, every dish was delicate and delicious, leaving me breathless. I highly recommend this place for anyone traveling to Kyoto who wants to experience authentic Kyoto cuisine! I definitely want to visit the restaurant after its relocation.
