Yakitori Daikichi Sanjo

Skewers such as tori shimeji, neck (salt), skin with sauce, heart with sauce, bariki, and others form a colorful lineup typical of Daikichi. Using binchotan charcoal, the active master carefully grills each skewer one by one, bringing out a toasty surface and a juicy, savory flavor. It is also renowned for good value, and pairs excellently with sake and shochu. Located in the Sanjo Ohashi area, which many foreign visitors also frequent, the deliciousness of the yakitori crosses borders.

It is a cozy yakitori restaurant located a five-minute walk from Sanjo Keihan, in an alley east of Ohashi on Sanjo Street. Run as a family business mainly by the master and his wife, it has a warm, homely atmosphere that attracts a wide range of customers, from local regulars to tourists and foreigners. It is so popular that it is often fully booked, so walk-ins without a reservation depend on timing, but that lively atmosphere is one of Daikichi's charms.

As a branch of the nationally operating yakitori chain "Yakitori Daikichi", it has long operated at the east end of Sanjo Ohashi Bridge. The skills of the active owner, who boasts over 30 years of history, and the warm, family-run service have spread by word of mouth, establishing the restaurant as a busy, beloved local spot. It is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, operates five days a week, and is lively from 4:00 PM into the late night.
