The signature medicinal hot pot features a clear flying fish broth combined with a rich chicken white soup, layered with multiple spices for a fragrant experience. Inside the restaurant, large windows overlook a lush garden, allowing soft light and breeze to flow through. With both tatami and table seating, the space is designed for comfort, creating a calm Japanese atmosphere. The area, which incorporates the former tea house's garden and building, is filled with a sense of nostalgia and tranquility, making it a pleasant place for both tourists and local residents.

Inheriting the building and garden of the beloved old 'Chaya Hirano', which was loved for over 20 years, we opened our doors anew as 'Yakushima Chaya Kodama' on April 16, 2026. Preserving the charm, we refine Yakushima's food culture with a modern sensibility. We will continue to be a tea house that values the history rooted in the community, connecting the past, present, and future generations.

The manager, Oshiro Kyusuke, promotes a menu that allows you to feel the essence of Yakushima, focusing on creating dishes that carefully utilize the island's ingredients. For tourists, it offers an experience to savor the blessings of nature, while for locals, it provides gentle dishes that accompany their daily meals.
