Located just a short walk from Awajicho and Ogawacho stations, this fresh fish ramen shop boasts the sign, "Would you like to drink fish?". The signature dish is the "Ramen with Roasted Silver Cod and Water". The regular dipping noodles are called "Crab Extract". The orange dipping sauce, made by simmering chicken white soup with the umami of crab, has a clear crab flavor from the first bite, with almost no fishy smell or peculiar taste. The homemade whole grain straight medium-thick noodles have a chewy elasticity, making them perfect for holding up the rich dipping sauce. The low-temperature cooked chashu and the sudachi squeezed in midway keep the flavors evolving until the end. Including the side dish of shrimp oil egg over rice, where you pour the dipping sauce over, this place offers a high level of satisfaction in one plate. It's recommended for solo lunches in Kanda and Awajicho, a light dinner while enjoying a beer after work, or for food walks with seafood and shellfish lovers. I can't help but compare them. The Shinjuku store is more to my liking. Gonokami seems to have quite a few branches. They all serve ramen with a bit of an edge to it, rather than ramen. This one was cod. Huh? I think. From the moment you enter the restaurant, it's cod! Cod! It's like that. The waitresses are all cool, just like at the Shinjuku branch. They are also very efficient. I guess this is common (laughs). The smell of cod is not persistent, and I eat it quickly. The noodles are also good! I wonder if this is common with Gonokami's noodles - they are smooth. The decoration is also perfect. It's easy to eat and tangles in the chopsticks. I like both Shinjuku and Ochanomizu restaurants. Which one? If I had to choose, I would say Shinjuku...
