The explanations of the dishes and wines are easy to understand, and the friendly service with smiles is delightful. Kane Kyu is a long-established shop located just a 3-minute walk from Hatanodai Station, where you can enjoy flavorful oden. The interior features only counter seating, creating a quiet and relaxed ambiance. In addition to oden, there are also dishes that pair well with drinks, such as yakitori and motsu-nikomi.
It's easily accessible from the station, and the calm atmosphere is pleasant. The chicken is very fresh, and every skewer was savory and satisfying. The unusual parts like the heart and the gori gori (crunchy texture) were enjoyable, making me want to order another one. The salt on the bonjiri (chicken tail) and negima (chicken and green onion) was sharp, and the umami was definitely noticeable. The white liver pâté, chicken skin with ponzu, and lightly pickled eggplant each have their own character and are perfect as snacks. The lineup of shochu is also enjoyable, and the original brands are worth trying.
There are many types of sake, and it's fun that the lineup changes depending on the day. The fresh fish dishes are delightful, and I was impressed by the grilled salmon belly, which had a crispy skin and moist, tender flesh. The smoked daikon and cream cheese pair perfectly, making it hard to resist. The pickled shallots and tuna macaroni salad, as well as the potato fries with aonori dip, are all creatively presented and enjoyable. Each item in the platter is carefully prepared, and they pair excellently with the drinks. The friendly service with smiles makes for a pleasant experience, and you can relax and enjoy in a comfortable space.
The reason I didn't give it a perfect score for ambiance is because it was simple and clean, not at all Christmas-y on Christmas Eve. I liked that refreshing feeling, so I reduced one star to make it stand out.
The fact that I was able to freely compare sake that I thought I don't drink that much on a daily basis (and that includes many rare sake breweries and brands I had never heard of), I was able to drink more than 2 gos of sake lightly.
The "Just Right Set" (3,200 yen) was a very nice set that included six kinds of snacks and six glasses of sake to choose from.
The additional dishes (grilled big eel, grilled eel liver, and liver paste baguette) were also very satisfying.
I would like to go back again!
