Karuizawa Kuroiwa Muni

We use fresh local ingredients and carefully prepare them using traditional Japanese cooking techniques. Each dish, especially the hassun and tamago kake gohan, is unique, offering new discoveries with every visit. The interior features a lush view visible through large windows, creating a soothing atmosphere with the sound of gentle flowing water. At the counter seats, guests can enjoy the chef's skills up close, creating a special moment. The design in harmony with nature provides comfort to those who visit.

Opened in Karuizawa in June 2021. Relocated from a famous restaurant in Ebisu, we pursue deeper flavors by cultivating local ingredients ourselves. This has further improved the quality of our dishes, providing new surprises with each visit.

After training at Kuroiwa in Ebisu, Mr. Asai moved to Karuizawa, where he cultivates his own vegetables daily while dedicating himself to his cooking. His sure technique—demonstrated at the counter in tasks such as slicing the bones of pike conger (hamo) and skewering live sweetfish (ayu)—and his careful preparations, as if listening to the voice of the ingredients, support the overall perfection of the dishes. From offering umbrella assistance in the parking lot to the presentation of a single plate, this attention to hospitality in the details creates returning customers.
