History : The Story of Oak Wine Boutique — Since 2018
2018 - Born from a Love of Wine
Oak Wine Boutique did not begin with a grand business plan. It began with a simple question from its founders in 2018:
"Why is it so difficult in Hanoi to find a place where you can enjoy a proper glass of wine, in a space warm and quiet enough to truly appreciate it?"
At the time, wine in Hanoi was often found in large, bustling restaurants - places that could feel formal and imposing. We dreamed of something different: a small place, much like a true European wine boutique. A place where wine was not treated simply as a luxury commodity, but carefully stored, appreciated and cherished like a good friend.
And so, the little house at No. 6 Trang Thi was chosen.
Right in the heart of one of Hanoi's busiest streets, it offered an unexpected sense of tranquillity, with its windows overlooking a remarkably peaceful patch of green. We chose to preserve everything that gave the house its character: the original wooden-framed windows, the old tiled floors, and above all, its quietness.
2019-2021 - A Home for Riedel in Vietnam
We believe that to truly respect wine, we must also respect the glass in which it is served.
That is why Oak Wine dedicated itself to pursuing a relationship with Riedel, the prestigious Austrian crystal glassmaker with more than 300 years of history. Oak Wine became one of the restaurants and boutiques in Vietnam to be officially recognized by Riedel.
It was an important milestone for us.
From then on, every bottle at Oak was not simply served, but presented in the glass created to reveal its true character. A Burgundy glass for Pinot Noir. A Bordeaux glass for Cabernet Sauvignon.
Because we believe that the experience of wine becomes complete when every detail is thoughtfully considered.
Throughout those years, Oak Wine gradually became a familiar yet deeply intimate address.
We never relied on grand advertising. Guests discovered Oak through a friend's recommendation, through a memorable evening by the window, or through a bottle of wine accompanied by the story shared by the people behind the restaurant.
2022-Today - Keeping Oak Warm, Intimate & Romantic
Almost seven years have passed. Trang Thi has changed considerably, and Hanoi has welcomed hundreds of new restaurants - grander, more spectacular and more modern than ever.
Yet Oak Wine has chosen to remain true to the path it began on.
We still keep the little table by the window, illuminated by the warm honey-colored glow you may have seen in our videos.
We still keep the Oval-vaulted wine cellar, where thousands of bottles rest quietly, and the green velvet sofa where intimate conversations unfold.
We still have the habit of pulling the chairs a little closer, pouring the wine slowly, and speaking softly.
Because over the years, we have come to realize that what guests remember most about Oak is not any particular expensive bottle of wine.
It is the warmth of feeling at home.
It is the intimacy of sitting close to someone you love.
And it is the romance of watching Hanoi outside suddenly become softer and more gentle through the window.
From 2018 to today, Oak Wine Boutique remains a small restaurant.
But it is a small restaurant built upon a great love - a love for wine and for the genuine emotions that are shared around a table.
We are still here, at No. 6 Trang Thi, keeping a table by the window for you.
