for foreigners, they want you to order "course", even though you do have options for a la cart.
If you opt out of the "course", they put down a "sashimi" dish for each guest without asking, and of course you pay for it. It is relatively expensive compare to the rest of the dishes in the menu.
I get it why.....no brainer!
We were also shocked to be asked to move to bar seat from table when we were into 3/4 of the meal just because of some walk-ins? To make matter worse, there is an empty table available. We do not understand this, but do feel quite offended.

Uoki" is a famous restaurant for its beautiful rice with salmon roe in an earthenware pot, which can never be reserved on the same day.
On days when I have a craving for this rice cooked in an earthenware pot, I take a cue from Naozumi Nitori and go to a nearby restaurant, have a quick bite, and wait for a phone call to tell me when a table becomes available.
The rice cooked in an earthenware pot with salmon roe has the same perfect taste and broth, but the amount of sashimi that is purchased from Tsukiji every day is also very fresh and delicious.
If you ask for two servings and can't finish it, they will make sushi for you.
The fish and the snacks on the menu hit all the right spots for the sake drinker.
The appetizer is a large portion of sasamimi with ume plum paste, which alone is enough to make you drink a glass of sake. A stylish restaurant in the neighborhood would charge 1000 yen.
There are also many rare brands of sake.
Another popular hidden menu item is the yaki-sai.
The ingredients, which are well seasoned, are wrapped in the skin just before steaming, so the texture of the skin remains delicious.
I would like to make a reservation and visit again soon.
It was delicious (*´ ˘ `*)♡
Tokyo Roppongi
I had often seen the famous earthenware pot rice shining through Instagram and other media at this Roppongi izakaya.
After taking off my shoes at the cozy entrance, I was shown to a counter with a kotatsu (a table placed over a sunken table).
The "Undan and salmon roe in an earthenware pot with rice" course
The lineup consisted of about six a la carte dishes, a main dish of rice, and a dessert. The main dish was tasty, but I was a little disappointed that there was not a larger portion.
However, the course was a hit on this day.
I have the impression that the evaluation is divided into two, so I guess it depends on the day.
I love this restaurant because everything I eat is delicious!
The rice in an earthenware pot with salmon roe and sea urchin is huge, but I never get tired of it no matter how many times I eat it. There are also sesame kanpachi, which is a regular menu item, crab with miso, and various grilled dishes, so I never get bored of all the things I want to eat!
The restaurant is always full and reservations are often made, no wonder it is so popular. You can ask the restaurant for sashimi when you make a reservation. ☺︎
Finally got an appointment and visited after a long time.
While enjoying conversation with the owner at the counter, we started with sashimi.
The sashimi was fresh and tasted sweet, and the rare brand of sake went down a treat.
Next, we had the vinegared motsu. What a giara!
The fatty meat of the high-quality motsu was finished off with ponzu (Japanese sauce made of vinegar and soy sauce) and another gulp of sake.
After a few grilled dishes, we had the long-awaited rice cooked in an earthenware pot with salmon roe (⌒-⌒).
The light soy sauce, sake, refined kelp broth, saltiness, sweetness, and nettiness of the salmon roe blended perfectly in the mouth.
I naturally said, "Delicious!
It was a blissful moment, thank you very much.
I will visit again next week when I can get a reservation (⌒-⌒).
Uoki" is a popular restaurant serving salmon roe and sea urchin in an earthenware pot with rice that is fully booked even in heavy snowfall.
The sashimi is also excellent.
The three of us drank 10 beers, 3 sours, 2 gou of Tengumai, 2 gou of Jyushidai, 1 gou of Ottersai, dishes, and more sashimi! We had salad, grilled sea bream, tempura taran sprouts, two plates of vinegared motsu, rice cooked in an earthenware pot with sea urchin and salmon roe, and other various dishes for ¥27,000.
It was a great way to end the week, and I wish you all the best!
