Sushi Sakai

The sushi served here is the pinnacle of Edomae-zushi, a technique honed over a long period of training. You can enjoy nigiri and snacks that remind you of the flow of the seasons, as well as wines and sake carefully selected by the sommelier. The owner pays particular attention to the quality of the vinegared rice, and maximizes its flavor by adjusting the temperature of the ingredients.

Designed by Shinji Maeda, a master of sukiya-style architecture, the restaurant features a relaxed atmosphere and a space that does not feel oppressive. The use of Kyoto Kitayama cedar provides the best nigiri-zushi experience for visitors in an elegant environment where they can enjoy the beauty and ageing of the wood. Only twelve counter seats are available. Together with attentive hospitality, visitors can spend a special time here.

The owner opened his own restaurant, Sushi Sakai, in 2013 with his unique philosophy of "Sushi from the heart. In addition to local customers, this popular restaurant attracts many fans from far and wide.

Daigo Sakai was born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1979 and began his training at Takatama Sushi in his hometown before further honing his skills at Umimi in Tokyo. 2013 saw him open his own restaurant, Sushi Sakai, which earned a star in the Michelin Guide the following year. 2017 saw him relocate to Nishinakasu, where his proven skills have attracted many foodies. He has been a member of the Sushi Sushi Club for over 30 years.
