Akagakiya

Founded in 1949, Akagakiya is a long-established izakaya that has changed with the times while maintaining Kyoto's traditions. The nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa period (1926-1989) has made Akagakiya a popular place for adults with a sense of moderation. The place, which has been preserved by father and son from generation to generation, values its culture and trust, supported by its regular customers, in all aspects of food, service, and atmosphere.

About 10 years ago, he took over the restaurant and became the fourth generation. Although he had previously worked in another profession, he decided to take over the family business when his father, the predecessor, became too old. Since he has been helping out at the restaurant since he was a child and knows the faces of the regular customers, he feels it is very meaningful to take over the restaurant and values the culture and relationships he has inherited as a long-established izakaya.
