We celebrated my wife's birthday with our son and his wife at Mikuni Izu Kogen for an anniversary dinner. First, I was captivated by the building reminiscent of a modern art museum and the guidance from the female manager before the feast began. Although it was a bit early in the evening, the view from the spacious glass-walled terrace was lovely. The first dish served was an appetizer with a colorful presentation like a small flower garden, and the taste was impeccable. Then came the dishes one after another, especially the steamed red snapper with asparagus, which was a unique flavor I had never experienced before. Additionally, the braised beef cheek in wine was tender and exquisite. I was thoroughly satisfied with the meal, but I was also impressed by the movements of the many staff working inside and the mannerisms of those explaining the dishes. (My wife has been learning French cuisine from chefs of the same generation as Chef Mikuni for about 30 years and has previous teaching experience, and she was very satisfied and grateful for the wonderful birthday celebration.)
