As you climb the narrow stairs, a traditional atmosphere spreads out, providing a sense of calm. The couple manages the place together, and their warm hospitality and gentle flavors are comforting. The handling of fish is impressive; the simmered dish has tender flesh, and the umami of the broth comes through beautifully. The small assortment of side dishes served at the beginning is delightful, featuring seasonal ingredients. The sashimi is fresh, and the beef shabu-shabu can be enjoyed with small tongs, which is satisfying. The vegetables and tofu in the hot pot are also delicious, and I feel happy to finish with a bowl of rice porridge.
