Grappa is a type of Italian distilled spirit, a kind of brandy. Unlike typical brandy made by distilling wine, it is made by distilling alcohol fermented from pomace (the residue of pressed grapes). Most grappa is not aged in barrels, so it is colorless and transparent, but retains a moderate aroma of grapes. The alcohol content ranges from 30 to 60 degrees. There are also flavored varieties.
