Washu Bar Engawa

We offer a selection of seasonal snacks centered around locally produced Japanese sake. By serving at the appropriate temperature and in suitable vessels, we bring out the original flavors of the ingredients, creating a special moment. We also have a variety of local snacks, such as miso-marinated tofu and heshiko, for you to enjoy.

The interior of the renovated traditional house is a warm space filled with a handmade feel. It is perfect for small visits, attracting locals and tourists alike, creating a charming atmosphere for a pleasant time. At the counter seats, you can enjoy a comfortable moment while conversing with the owner.

Opened in 2014, it aims to convey the charm of sake. We continue to provide a special experience to enjoy sake with the local sake vessels, alongside the nature of Ishikawa. We cherish the philosophy from the beginning of our establishment and strive to offer services that allow visitors to feel the changing seasons.

Mr. Shimoki, born in the local Yamashiro Onsen, was not initially good with alcohol, but while working at a liquor store in Kanazawa he became attracted to the depth of sake. He gained experience in liquor retail and wholesale, trained at a bar in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and at 28 obtained the advanced qualification "Sake Master". He fulfilled his dream of opening a shop in his hometown and in 2014 opened the Japanese sake bar Washu Bar Engawa, where he continues to carefully convey the appeal of sake.
