A cozy, homey bar where you can enjoy Ishikawa's local sake
Standing opposite Hasebe Shrine in Yamanaka Onsen is "Washu Bar Engawa." Housed in a renovated traditional folk house, it offers a warm, inviting atmosphere and keeps about 30 varieties on hand, mainly renowned sake from Ishikawa Prefecture. The owner, a sake master, selects the optimal vessel to suit each sake’s quality, bringing out the drink’s original aroma and depth. A cup enjoyed with the changing seasons is exceptional. It is a hidden retreat for adults where travelers and locals alike can quietly become intoxicated.
