TERRAZZA SAMARCANDA

Uzbekistan's traditional plov (pilaf) is a dish of sweetly caramelized carrots, beans, onions, and rice cooked in a plov pot, characterized by fluffy rice coated in oil and an exotic cumin-infused flavor. The mutton is simmered until it falls apart and braised in a sweet-and-salty sauce that harmonizes exquisitely with the refreshing tang of raisins. Plov, with its sweet-and-salty, fruity accents, offers a deep deliciousness you won't find elsewhere.

This is a new restaurant specializing in Uzbek cuisine that opened on October 28, 2021 in Takadanobaba, Shinjuku, Tokyo. It has attracted attention as the only place in Japan where you can taste plov cooked in a plov kazan, offering dishes that recreate authentic flavors. It is a rare place where you can enjoy traditional Uzbek cuisine in a stylish, exotic-feeling interior.

The owner, Mr. Akmal, is from the ancient Uzbek city of Samarkand. He came to Japan in 2011, and after graduating from graduate school he decided to spread the flavors of his hometown in Japan while studying economics. He opened this restaurant serving Uzbek home cooking in 2021 in Takadanobaba and offers dishes cooked using an authentic plov kazan from his homeland. Akmal is fluent in languages and speaks six languages, and he also acts as a cultural bridge.
