Was ist Japan?: Japan’s dining scene is often described as a dialogue between seasons, craftsmanship, and regional identity. From sushi, tempura, and kaiseki to ramen, yakitori, and wagashi, menus tend to highlight clarity of flavor and careful presentation. Travelers may notice distinct local styles: Hokkaido’s seafood, Tohoku’s comfort stews, Tokyo’s soba and modern interpretations, Kansai’s okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, Shikoku’s udon, Kyushu’s tonkotsu ramen, and Okinawa’s island influences. Many venues emphasize dashi, fermented seasonings such as miso and soy sauce, and precise knife work. A tradition linked to tea ceremony hospitality is said to shape the understated service and attention to detail found in many dining rooms. Street-side counters, casual izakaya, and refined multicourse experiences coexist, encouraging spontaneous tastings and planned outings alike. Seasonal specials, chef’s selections, and collaborative pop-ups appear in various neighborhoods, suggesting a food culture that balances heritage with ongoing creativity.
Tokyo Fudomae
My first visit after the reopening.
This is an energetic and very popular sushi restaurant that focuses on nurturing young chefs.
Now only one turn for lunch and dinner each.
I was served by the starting member of the bullpen, General Sasaki.
Lunch Nigiri Omakase
Nigiri 12 rolls
Nigiri rolls
Three a la carte dishes
◇Tamago
Bowl
Additional 2 rolls
The rice is soft.
Especially, Akitonomis, Akamutsu, and Anago (fluffy) were delicious.
Above all, the friendly service is very comfortable.
Next time, I would like to come for dinner. I would like to come here with a private party.

A memorable dining experience spent at She Ino
Each dish is beautiful, that is already a given.
However, the cuisine at She Ino cannot be described simply with the words "beautiful" and "luxurious."
It is not pretentious, yet it feels familiar, as if you have tasted it somewhere before, but it is completely different.
The moment it enters your mouth,
"Ah, this is something I feel I understand yet do not understand,"
that quiet surprise was present with every dish.
The power of the ingredients, the way they are cooked, the layering of flavors, and the lingering aftertaste. Each element asserts itself without being overwhelming, yet everything leaves a proper impression.
It is not just that "it is delicious because it uses the best ingredients," but rather, the thought put into "how to handle them" is conveyed more and more as you continue to eat.
The flow of the entire course is truly beautiful, with no heaviness or strain, just a pleasant experience that carries you through to the end.
Before I realized it, my heart was filled even before I could analyze the flavors.
And then, the birthday dessert plate.
The beautiful flowers painted across the plate,
and the meticulous attention to detail in that one piece,
was so breathtaking that it left me speechless; it was not just a "presentation" but conveyed a warmth that celebrated a precious moment together.
What made that time even more special was the presence of Mr. Ito, the president.
While maintaining a dignified atmosphere, his occasional smile and subtle humor eased the tension of us first-time visitors without us even noticing. Just like the food, the care for the atmosphere itself was naturally conveyed.
And of course, it was not just Mr. Ito; the hospitality of all the staff was also impressive.
They never overstepped, yet they were attentive to our needs.
That balance and their smiles made the entire space soft and comfortable.
It is fitting for a special day, yet you can relax without feeling stiff.
Even days later, I find myself reminiscing about that time.
I definitely want to return,
that is how I feel about this place.

supreme
A grand maison that even a crying child can't stop talking about.
Everything was supreme.
The food, the service, the ambiance of the restaurant, everything was top-notch.
In particular, the cauliflower mousse, one of the signature dishes, is always impressive.
If I had to pick a weak point, it would be that the customer sitting in the back of the room was a little annoying with his indescribable talk with his companion (laugh).
I would like to visit again.

【Tokyo Minami Aoyama】
An Italian restaurant run by Mr. Kitano, who served as a sous chef at TACUBO, with late-night hours and excellent usability.
I had a drink at the bar upstairs while waiting for a table to be prepared, and this was my first visit to the a la carte dinner section.
A la carte
◇ Fluffy omelette with kettle-boiled whitebait and jalapeno
◇ Conger eel fritter
Originally, the menu featured conger eel spring rolls. Since they were sold out and couldn't be made, they prepared a fritter instead. It was delicious.
◇ Cold capellini with fresh karasumi (bottarga)
Luxurious fresh karasumi that looks fantastic. Cold capellini wins in the hot and unpleasant summer.
◇ Carbonara with black truffle
◇ Amatriciana with new onions
For drinks, I started with the original malca beer and then had white wine paired with each dish.
The food was so delicious that I wanted to try everything on the menu. I will definitely come back.

Highly recommended authentic and long-established French cuisine
Restaurant Aladdin @ Hiroo
Lunch budget: 4,000 yen and up
Occasions: Girls' night out, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere with parents/family
Clientele: Late 20's to 60's
The restaurant is very quiet and classic space.
This might be the place to take your parents. ☝️✨
I've had my eye on this place for a long time.
Lunch is very reasonable.
I chose the cheapest course at 3,600 yen this time.
The volume of each dish was so large that it filled me up!
I was also happy to be able to choose from three choices of hors d'oeuvre, main dish, and dessert.
Hors d'oeuvre: Spanish chicken, foie gras, taro, girolle mushrooms and burdock galantine
Main dish: Roasted quail stuffed with wild rice and curry sauce
DessertKumquat Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream
The 5th and 6th pictures are appetizers my friend ordered.
Already, all of them were really delicious,
The bread and pork rillette are also great.
Next time I come back, I'll try to make it to the recommended menu for that season:)

Robe" is a popular French restaurant in Higashi-Azabu that is perfect for a Michelin 1-star date.
My friend and I used it for a relaxing lunch to enjoy the cuisine of the chef, sommelier, and pastry chef who has an illustrious career in the cute restaurant.
We asked for a lunch course of about 7,000 yen and a wine pairing to enjoy a variety of wines.
The food was beautifully presented and served in small portions, just like a Michelin restaurant, and the ladies loved the food.
The wine list was light, with a selection of European wines to match the dishes.
The restaurant was packed, and the chef and server were alone, and the service was a bit slow and unobtrusive, but I was happy to be able to relax since I was having lunch with a friend.
I would recommend this restaurant for a relaxing lunch date or a girls' night out.

A complete course meal filled with the personality of the owner and his passion for eel.
I have always wanted to visit Tokito.
I have always wanted to go to Tokito's. It is a restaurant where you can enjoy a novel dish called "French eel".
I was so excited to see the restaurant,
It has only been one year since they opened their restaurant in Azabujuban.

Four kinds of Shiroyaki

Shiroyaki is sprinkled with salt, so you can enjoy it as it is.
You can also add a squeeze of citrus fruit if you like.
Add wasabi (Japanese horseradish), yuzu kosho (Japanese citrus), or salt to taste.
Here, too, there is an Italian element.
Prosciutto and eel are completely different things, right?
I thought so, but it is not too salty and the flavor of the eel is not lost.
and the flavor of the eel is not lost, so it is a very well-balanced combination.

Smoked eel terrine
Smoked eel was served at the appetizer,
I thought it was delicious! I thought it was delicious!
I'm so happy!
It is a simple combination of vegetables and smoked eel, but this simplicity enhances the deliciousness of the eel.
If the previous dish had a strong flavor
the goodness of this dish would be reduced by half.

The beautifully decorated

Unaju
The last dish to be served is Unaju!
After eating such a wide variety of eel dishes
I thought my stomach and mind should be satisfied.
But we finish with a magnificent unaju, as if to say, "If you come to an eel restaurant, you must eat unaju!

The eel is fluffy and thick.
The eel was thick and fluffy, and the sweet sauce was perfect!
I should have been full, but for some reason, I could eat it as fast as I could.
I can't stop eating. Chopsticks that won't stop.
Finally, for dessert
Kuzumochi
Matcha green powdered tea
and green powdered tea.
The owner herself makes the matcha right in front of you.
It is hard to find such a perfect course meal of eel.
I think it is very rare to have such a perfect course meal of eel.
Next time, I will go to eat a course of all-natural eel.

French prestigious! The supreme!
This time, we report on Benoit, a French restaurant in Aoyama, Omotesando.
The restaurant has a very high rating of 3.7 points on Eat.log. The price is also quite good. It's not the kind of place you can use casually.
But anyway, I wanted to try it once, so I went. It is a study.
It was my first time to go to a real French restaurant.
I had no idea what was right or left, but I was guided to my seat.
When I was a little intimidated, the staff in the hall, perhaps using the wood, gave me a quick explanation of how to order from the menu in a talk that made me laugh.
It made me feel cared for.
As for the all-important food, it is unquestionably good!
This time we had the 3800 yen course, which included one appetizer, one main dish, dessert, and coffee (or tea).
The amount of food is only two dishes, but it is very generous and will fill your stomach to the brim.
The dessert "Mont Blanc" was especially agonizingly good! This is the real thing...
This is the real thing.... Anyway, the real thing is bad. I'm going to be addicted to it.
I was so comfortable that I found myself there for more than two hours.
It's a great place. No doubt about it!
