A sushi restaurant with thick cuts and a traditional atmosphere

Sushi Kawa-Kyu is a sushi restaurant known for its thick cuts of fish. The balance with the mildly vinegared rice is exquisite, and it pairs exceptionally well with sake, especially those from Niigata. The establishment has a calm, traditional atmosphere that allows for relaxation. They offer a variety of nigiri and appetizers made with seasonal ingredients, and it's a bonus that they are open until late at night.

The interior has a retro atmosphere, with counter seating and partitioned areas, allowing for a relaxed experience. The fish is cut firmly, and each piece provides a sense of satisfaction. The vinegared rice has a mild acidity that pairs well with the fish. The medium fatty tuna, which is seared on the surface, has a pleasant aroma, and its umami flavor expands significantly, which I particularly enjoyed. The creamy chawanmushi (savory egg custard) and the well-flavored marinated mackerel are also delicious, allowing for enjoyment from appetizers to sushi. There are many sake brands from Niigata, making it fun to pair with the dishes.
